There were different music proposals for many James Bond movies, but never as many as for “Tomorrow Never Dies”. The producers launched invitations at large, which practically lead to a secret competition (not even the participants knew about it). The proposals came from Pulp, The Cardigans, Swan Lee, Saint Etienne, Dot Allison and many others. There were 12 proposals received in total 1)”The Music of James Bond” by Jon Burlingame, book published by Oxford University Press in 2012.
Sheryl Crow was the chosen one. Her song reached 12th place in Britain.
The music video shows us Sheryl Crow as a female version of James Bond.
The band members of Pulp subsequently changed the their song in “Tomorrow Never Lies”. With their piece, the movie would have begun like this:
