The Man with the Golden Gun

The song was written and recorded in less than three weeks, due to the tight schedule of the movie production. John Barry believes it to be the worst song he has ever written. The critics didn’t spare him, considering the song was full of indecent insinuations and sounded ridiculous.
But since when have such “trifles” stopped a song from being successful? It reached 11th place on the British chart:
Can you imagine a James Bond movie beginning with an Alice Cooper song? It could have been possible for “The Man with the Golden Gun”. It all seemed to go in the right direction.
